Jason Aniceto

Hello. I’m Jason Aniceto. Friends and family call me Jay.

A 25 year old native of Annapolis, MD, I recently moved out to Chicago in the beginning of 2009. I graduated in 2006 from UMBC with a B.S. in Computer Science. I also train, research, and prepare for the coming zombie apocalypse.

Programming Experience

Previously, I worked at a bank and did a limited amount of HTML modification to their official websites. I also had various projects that involved some programming in Javascript. I mostly worked on Microsoft InfoPath forms; some had required some scripting in the background to pull information from our SharePoint form libraries. I’ve also had to do some coding on some of our SharePoint sites to create some web page tables and reports, pulling and formatting information in XML from the libraries.

As for outside projects, I have done a lot of personal web programming and design on the side to learn PHP. I have experience with PHP since 2004. I am also very familiar with SQL and performing database queries in PHP. As for C#, I only had brief exposure to it when I did a GUI project in my senior year at UMBC; I used Visual Studio on my own to create a crude Tetris game. As for Object Oriented Design, I have become fairly proficient at it from doing C and C++ projects all 4 years at my school.

Currently, I'm a producer for a growing web site that provides property listings that are for sale. My responsibilities include converting mock-ups into coded HTML and CSS pages, troubleshooting javascript errors, and creating e-mail templates. I also get some really neat Ruby projects from time to time as well as the chance to help maintain some Ruby on Rails sites.

My Interests

I like to read when I have the time. My genre of interest usually revolves around Fantasy. My favorite authors (in no particular order) are J. K. Rowling, Raymond E. Feist, and George R. R. Martin. For many years I had a healthy obsession with comic books, but I try not to spend as much on them anymore. I still love to read them when I can though. I love watching movies. I have so many favorite movies, and I don’t have any particular favorite type. As long as I enjoy the story and visuals, it will be a winner for me (the only movie that holds the title of “My Most Hated Movie I Wish I Had Never Wasted My Time On” would have to be Alexander). I also enjoy watching great television shows. I usually try to hold off until the series is on DVD so I can sit through a couple episodes in a row, but if it is really good, I’ll try to catch each new weekly episode as it airs. My top 3 series ever: Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, and Freaks and Geeks.

I also like to travel. Places I’ve been to within the last few years: the Philippines, Chicago, New York City, Florida, and Las Vegas. I love to visit museums and aquariums when I can, learning and seeing new things. I would love to go on a trip throughout Europe, Japan, and probably Australia.
